To automate a production process for the loading and unloading of aluminium tubes into two separate machines for an end forming and roll forming operation respectively to eliminate human intervention and increase productivity. The machine had to handle tubes of lengths varying from 180mm to 2100mm and diameters varying from 8mm to 15mm.
Saskaya engineering automated the production process using a 6-axis robot. A custom EOAT was designed. Two Walking beam units were designed to feed parts to each of the machines. The EOAT and walking beams were designed to handle all variants of parts without any change in setting. The controller () and the programme used ensured a certain amount of simple communication between machines as well as intelligence features that would be beneficial for smooth functioning. All safety interlocks were ensured to avoid collisions or accidents which could occur during operation. The robot motion sequence was optimized to ensure maximum utilization of each machine.
